WEEK 1 PROJECT: MY MCBS STORY
Before I started the MCBS Program ...I was in a fog really about where to go next in my career and entrepreneurial pursuits. I had just left an organization doing creative projects and video editing for them and I realized that even though I didn't want to be a part of the organization anymore, I really loved what I was doing.
I had always thought ...I wanted to have my own business of doing what I love. I love to manage projects and work behind the scenes in the creative process. For me it is not even work and I enjoy seeing the finished results.
But then ...I tried to go out on my own and realized that I did not have the proper skills, equipment, and software to do the quality work that I want to do. I knew these were some things that I wanted to acquire.
Because of that ...I knew I needed more guidance, education, and experience before going out and doing this on my own. The only option I knew that I had in order to get the skills and credentials that I wanted was to go back to school.
Because of that ...I started to search for good schools that will help you further your education without having to take classes that you do not need. I had an Associates Degree in Psychology because of the organization I was a part of, and during that experience I was bored to death with the curriculum that I had to go through.
Because of that ...I decided to keep searching and I remembered a friend of mine speaking about their time at Full Sail studying Music Production. They explained how Full Sail gave them a Launchbox with everything they needed to turn their room into a recording studio. So I started doing my own research on the school and I heard mostly great things.
Until finally ...I decided to give them a call and enroll in the Media Communications Degree Program and I know that it was a great decision. At first I was thinking of doing Graphic Design, but I realized that would really put a limit on what I really wanted to do. I immediately started learning relevant and interesting things related to the media communications industry.
And ever since I decided to pursue my passion for media ...and digital creativity I finally feel like I am going in the right direction. I get such a great feeling of fulfillment in putting my all in everything that I do here at Full Sail.
I was really inspired by the creativity in Safia Hatcher's blog. On her story spine she made it look really eye catching by adding some color to it, so I took some influence from that and added color to mine. It still doesn't look as cool as her's, but it livened it up a little bit! I also related to her feelings of initially wanting to study Graphic Design but figuring out that it was not the ONLY thing she wanted to do. I also related to Imani Tolbert's blog post because she expressed how the general courses she was taking at her community college was not keeping her attention. Getting my Psychology Degree was a very boring experience and I barely made it through because I was just really disconnected with my assignments. With reading both of these ladies blog and some of my other classmates it really helped me to express some of my own feelings.
